Tinnitus Evaluation & Management

Tinnitus is the perception of sound in the ears or head without an external source, often described as ringing, buzzing, hissing, or clicking. Tinnitus affects nearly 10% of adults, making it one of the most commonly reported health concerns in the United States today. Tinnitus is not a condition itself but a symptom of an underlying issue, such as hearing loss or ear injury. Factors like stress, exposure to loud noises, and certain medications can exacerbate tinnitus. While there is no universal cure, treatments like sound therapy, counseling, and lifestyle changes can help manage its impact and improve quality of life.
At Integral Audiology, we take time with our patients to customize proven solutions that work for each individual’s needs and lifestyles.
What can I expect during a tinnitus evaluation?
Step 1: Comprehensive Evaluation
The first step in managing tinnitus is understanding how it impacts YOU! At Integral Audiology, we start with deep dive into how you perceive your tinnitus and how it is impacting your life. This includes a combination of questionnaires as well as conversation with the audiologist.
Because tinnitus is often tied to hearing loss, we also complete a diagnostic hearing test as well as extended high frequency testing to give us further insight into how your auditory system is functioning.
