Latest Available Oticon Technology

The Oticon Intent is Oticon’s newest flagship hearing aid (released 2024) Oticon’s philosophy is about using motion sensors to understand what you are trying to listen to, a concept they call “BrainHearing.”

1. 4D Sensor Technology

This technology uses multiple internal sensors to deduce the user’s listening intentions based on physical movement.

  • Head & Body Movement Monitoring: Sensors detect if the user is turning their head to face a specific speaker or leaning in, interpreting this as an intention to listen to that specific source.

  • Acoustic & Conversation Analysis: Simultaneously monitors the sound environment and active conversation patterns to decide whether to widen the microphone range or narrow it.

  • Adaptive Support: Automatically adjusts signal processing in real-time to match physical behavior, rather than relying solely on acoustic triggers.

2. Sound Processing (Sirius Platform)

The Intent is powered by the Sirius chip, which supports technology designed to support the brain’s natural cognitive processes.

  • Deep Neural Network (DNN) 2.0: Uses second-generation onboard AI trained on a vast library of real-world sound samples. It is designed to preserve original sound details while suppressing background noise.

  • MoreSound Intelligence 3.0: Provides a clearer representation of the sound scene, delivering up to 12dB of noise suppression in complex environments to reduce listening effort.

  • Wind & Handling Stabilizer: Detects wind noise or handling noise (such as hair or glasses touching the microphones) up to 500 times per second to clean up the signal instantly.

3. Connectivity

The Intent utilizes the latest wireless standards for broad compatibility.

  • Bluetooth LE Audio: Incorporates “Low Energy” Bluetooth technology, which offers higher audio quality with significantly lower battery consumption.

  • Auracast Ready: Engineered to support the upcoming Auracast broadcast audio standard, allowing direct connection to public sound systems in the future.

  • Universal Hands-Free Communication: Supports direct streaming and hands-free calling for both compatible iPhones and Android devices, allowing users to answer or end calls by double-tapping the hearing aid.

4. Hardware & Power

  • MiniFit Detect Speakers: The speaker wire (receiver) contains an embedded memory unit that stores prescription gain data. It self-calibrates to ensure precise amplification and alerts the user if the wire is damaged.

  • Fast-Charging Lithium-Ion Battery:

    • Full Charge: Provides up to 20 hours of battery life.

    • Quick Charge: A 15-minute charge provides approximately 4 hours of use; a 30-minute charge provides 8 hours.

  • Compact Design: Features a redesigned, shorter form factor that sits low behind the ear.

  • IP68 Rating: Certified resistance to dust and water ingress.

5. User Control

  • Tap Control: A built-in accelerometer allows users to control streaming and phone calls by double-tapping the ear.

  • Oticon Companion App: Allows for fine-tuning of volume, streaming equalizer settings, and remote support appointments with hearing care professionals.
